Title: CPU over threshold - 97 Deg Cel Post by: Syklone on 18/10/2014, 11:08 AM Hi gang, trying to work out whats wrong here, if its a faulty sensor or something worse.
My PC has started alerting with the Intel Desktop alert saying my CPU is over temp threshold. Around 101 to 96 Deg Cel. But my PC is in a cool room, the CPU fans and case fans are working and all the rest of the sensors are reporting green. To add to my confusion, it occurs 2 mins after the OS has loaded. Sometimes will go away, other times will stay on for a while, maybe 10 mins before going away and the alert reports drop down to 60 Deg Cel and then cools / pans out. I am somewhat unsure what to do, the case is clean as I maintain it and keep dust free. It sits away from windows where it could get any warmth from the sun and is cool. Ideas ? Good way to check what the bottom line of the temp its getting at before it loads anything. Title: Re: CPU over threshold - 97 Deg Cel Post by: Alucard on 18/10/2014, 02:06 PM 1st thing is to check if the bios is up to date
2nd thing is to check the temp in the bios and if normal there - re install that app or check it in something like CPUz or core temp (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/) to get another take on it. 3rd thing is to reapply thermal paste and then reseat the Heat sync. on my old Core 2 Quad i had the stock intel heat sync not locked down on one side and it was causing things like this. 4th thing... if all else fails call Bohica Title: Re: CPU over threshold - 97 Deg Cel Post by: Garby on 18/10/2014, 04:57 PM Your thermal paste may have dried up or heatsink not mounted correctly - or fan not working, and/or heatsink full of dust.

I clean the dust / fan from the pc monthly. As for Heat paste - may go and check it. Plus get some alternative tools for checking the machine with the bios settings. All cool again.
