Title: Good PS3 Co-Op Games
Post by: Z00111111 on 30/08/2013, 09:57 AM
Yes, I know, blasphemy.
To defend myself, the reasoning for purchasing a console was primarily for bluray, with couch multiplayer gaming as the incentive for buying a PS3 over just a bluray player. I've only had it a day so far, but apart from shitty graphics, GTA IV is possibly more fun on console.

PC gaming, while far better for FPS and strategy games, amongst others, unfortunately still comes with the requirement of Windows, which in my experience is always a horrible, bug-filled experience. I can't even PC game at the moment because KSP caused a driver corrupting crash that's resulted in an unidentified driver causing random crashes. So I'm actually enjoying not having to fuck around just to get a game to run until I choose to quit.

Anyway, the question: What are some good co-op PS3 games that my girlfriend and I would both enjoy?

I'm thinking Portal 2, I enjoyed the first one and co-op of that should be pretty rad.
Borderlands 2 seems to have good reviews for co-op, and my GF does enjoy shooting games. Halo was a favourite of hers.

Anyone have any feedback on either of those games, or suggestions of other co-op games that you enjoyed?

from memory little big planet i was told is good

i usually went for tekken ect for some button smashing fun. War Hawk was fun from memory but you need a but of time playing to really enjoy playing that one.
i know that there is a heap on the Playstation store and when i was looking there were heaps of demos to try out the games.

Borderlands 2 is awesome, Fifa or NHL is awesome if you are into that kind of stuff.
Portal 2 is awesome, gets you thinking aswell.
There is stuff like Army of Two (all sequels aswell), which is really fun in co-op.
Little big planet is good, lots of replayability as well, like millions upon millions of different missions to choose from.

Stay away from CoD, it's frustrating and annoying to play with a friend (especially a loved one ;) )

Not much else I can think of, there should be a bunch of good ones coming out soon, like that new Bungie one (the name escapes me).

Definitely Borderlands 2 mate, graphics style is sah_weeeeeet some of the things you have to kill are funny as fuck, and the voice-acting top-notch. Also, guns. Lots and lots of shiny bombastic guns. It's a good couples game imo, and easy to do in both time-spurts sessions or marathons.

Portal 2 will definitely get you both thinking, but may result in arguments..... *eh-heh*

Also see if there's Katamari - the co-op  play mode can be fun (or frustrating if you play with a troll or a derp) , and it's addictive.  And the soundtrack is gorgeous.

Now I'm worried :P I bought Portal 2...

I'll definitely get Borderlands 2 once we've had enough of Portal 2.

In other news, after attempting to watch a few 3D Blurays on my HTPC and getting terrible results, I tried one on the PS3 and it was FUCKING AMAZING! Looked so much better than 3D at the cinema. Passive 3D, as in interlaced polarised style, just looks so damn good. The 3D effect was perfect! some of the scenes had such brilliant 3D effect it was like it was really in front of you.
