Anyone looked into this?

I played the beta last weekend and was fairly impressed.  Its an Open world MMO Shooter.

The basic story is that 7 alien races tried to immigrate to earth but found it in inhabited.  After attempts to discuss the refugee access basically to the planet, war broke our between them and humans.  After awhile, a group of the aliens and humans got sick of the fighting and banded together to stop the war in what they call the 'Battle of Defiance'.  It basically created a movement that ended the war, but in the process of the war, the earth was terraformed into a mix of earth and alien landscapes and now all races are trying to survive together in a post-apocalypse world.

The big catch is that it was designed ground up to work in line with a tv series being produces by Syfy network under the same name.  The characters and stories will integrate between the 2 formats and both will have impact on the other.

Its mostly a PvE based game but it does have instanced pvp.  There is no classes or levels.  You get 2 weapon slots and you can put any guns of your choice in them.  My favourite part of it was probably the vehicles as it was jsut a lot of fun running over the enemies and alien bugs with a quad bike :P

The game itself is released next week on April 2nd and the tv series starts on april 15th.  You have to buy the boxed game but there is no monthly sub.

I think with an online shooter the most important aspect would be close servers. No point playing a game if you can't hit the damn target.

From what i have seen it looks very good! I will definitly be buying the full game!

bought it yesterday, theres abit of a learning curve and intro story isn't that great, but once u get into it, its alot of fun

Been playing all afternoon and that isnt an issue considering im on an american server so its pretty good on that aspect.

Other than that game is pretty fun.

 I'm a bit worried about it being frontloaded, how far through the world are you guys?

defiance is great its worth the $60, i just downloaded fallen earth and so far its feels primitive
