Title: ***DI montage***
Post by: Epsoma on 25/03/2013, 07:12 PM
Ive decided to make this post to inform people of a clan montage I might be making with the help of anyone who is interested. Now, at this point I have just this idea in my head and I welcome suggestions and advice ect. I might arrange a night that I can record with the clan (Maybe this easter weekend). If people have any suggestions id love to hear it. Yeah, idk what im getting myself into but we can give it a shot. Ill be using Fraps and recording at 1080p. Editing with Adobe Premere pro. It would be cool if I could get some of your clips somehow so that I can add them to the montage. Also looking for people who might have a bit of experience with adobe after effects so they can add some effects in.
Thanks Epsoma =)

I vote for recurring footage of Chal and me prone behind shields in 2142. That's about all we did in that game :P

Also, keen to see what you come up with! Hopefully yours gets further than some of the others did.

It'll be good if you can get some others to record their end. Different angles would make editing a whole lot more complicated, but the final result would be impressive!

Yeah, would be cool to get different angles. Idk what games everyone plays but getting funny clips from the clan members on different games might be cool. I was leaning towards a BF3 clan montage because everyone has bf3 and most people are willing to play it.

Heck, even I've got BF3 and I'm that Level 4 soldier running around 'naked', lol :P

Unfortunately I'll be AFK for a couple weeks, but yeah, will see what I can record in my own time and dropbox to you.

Psych0, does the clan still have a private server?

Nah we canned it a while ago because we had no team anymore.

I've only got BF2. Didn't like the look of BF3's gameplay.

There are still BF2 servers up that get alot of traffic, the BF2ers could get on together and get some footage :)

Edit: I could also get the BR footage of Anglo playing PR for the first time in yonks  :PDT_Armataz_01_12:
He killed friendlies left right and center and then had a nervous breakdown.

I don't have bf2. I do have bc2 though which could be done. I think I'll post a screenshot of my fraps settings here when I he home so that people can record using the same settings.

I think ingame footage of people kicking arse would be good. But setting up machinima seems awful complicated and likely to fall flat.
I've never played MechWarrior or warbirds(can't think of the name) that everyone is playing, and couldn't be fucked playing PR or Arma IV whatever. But a few vids of how the game should be played, I'd be interested in watching that.

I say wind the idea back a bit to something a little more simple like a youtube channel where we post ingame vids. Have someone manage it, sort out a max length say 5min, design up a quick intro stab at the start and one at the end, slap our web address all over it. When people actually record something, they cut it to length, get it to the channel manager, channel manager bookends it and uploads it. That way it is no big effort for anyone, and if they can be fucked, then they have somewhere to put it, and it might direct some traffic to our website.

Ok that sounds good Bageled. I can make a user on youtube if you want called "Death_Inc" maybe? We could set up a drop box if maybe we wanted someone else to put videos onto it or something. Or we just share around the passcode to trusted members so they can upload straight to youtube? Anyone keen for that?

I think we might have a youtube account for the clan already?

Bageled's idea does sound the most feasible. Then once there's a bit of a library of footage Epsoma could call it Norton and have his sweet way with it.

I think keep access to a limited number of members, like we do with the sigs.
You guys can still do your BF2 thing, they aren't mutually exclusive idea's.
Need someone to come up with the opening and closing credits though. I have zero skills in that department.

Here is an attachment of my fraps settings. **Warning** If you dont have a lot of free space on your computer dont bother recording. Fraps takes a shittonne of HD space. Ive got a 1Tb HD that is dedicated to fraps videos.

I MUST SEE THIS!!! :D

Also, back in my WOW days, my guild would just sit on vent gabbin' on about all sorts of random funny shit -- some of those sound bites are hilarious (not to mention highly rude). But it'd be a good way to showcase the personality of the clan as well, on top of the kick-ass gameplay (not to mention not requiring much in the way of video or disk-space if it's just recording audio and simple slide-show editing).

Example (not my guild but the accents are priceless):

I agree Jazzycat, it would be good to have some good audio clips of fun clan gaming and personalities shinning through. As far as good games to record, I recommend any team game that has a lot of following and a lot of people know about. Before I joined Death Inc last year I never knew about Mech Warrior Online, and was more into steam games like Left for Dead (1 & 2), Counter Strike, etc. Good idea for promoting DI and no matter what game is recorded as long as there is fun and humor, we can spread the word with a smile. Cheers jb
