According to a new report, one of the most beloved Star Wars characters is indeed going to be back, portrayed by the actor who originated the role, as Latino Review is reporting that Harrison Ford is set to return as Han Solo for Star Wars: Episode VII. I just came.

I hope its just a cameo or something... Don't get me wrong, Solo is my favorite main character and IMHO Harrison Ford made Star Wars good, but he is supposed to be a gunslinging, trash talking space mercenary and I think that will be completely ruined if its played by Harrison Ford as an old fart. The Trek reboot proved to me that classic sci-fi characters can transcend the original actors if done correctly, and I hope that is what they do here.

EDIT: I think that is the nerdiest paragraph of text I have ever written :-\

Yeah I dunno how this would work. Harrison Ford is a legend and he can certainly still act.... but he's getting on in years and doesn't fit the young rogue character of Han Solo.

Then again in the expanded universe Solo and Leia settled down and had kids after the fall of the empire so maybe he will be a retired family man

I heard rumours that they were going to do a Han Solo spin off movie and that is the reason behind his return in Episode VII.

Inspired by that new novel that came out, 'Scoundrels' or something that's focused on the smugglers/bounty hunters/etc?

I was kinda hoping they would stay away from the original characters(as awesome as they were) because they are old now and won't exactly make the movie better

I think they'll end up following Han and Leia's kids. It's the only way they could really work in Harrison Ford as Han. A lot of the original actors have said they'd love to be in VII, so that'd sit well with the new movie being based 30 odd years in the future. Any children had by main characters would be about 20, so about the age of the original characters.

I hope they adjust teh character to suit his age. Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was a fiasco, mutton dressed up to look like lamb.
The good news is neither Lucas or Spielburg will have their hands on it. JJ Abrams has done good stuff with the Star Trek reboot so maybe it will be good.

I am not sure they can afford to make another bad star wars movie. I mean this will be the seventh in the series, if it is a bad movie, that means they will have had 2 "good" movies out of the 7. That is the same ratio as the Police Academy Series...

I hate the special editions though, they kept changing the voices and special effects
