Title: Simcity (5)
Post by: Eza0o07 on 29/01/2013, 04:17 PM
Although not labelled Simcity 5 (just Simcity) it technically is. Its coming out March 7 and will use Origin. It will also be the first Simcity to have a multi player component to it! :D

I remember some of you playing Simcity 4, so the question  is: Is anyone going to buy it? I sure am. From the Closed Beta gameplay(s) that I've seen you Youtube it really does look quite good.

Your thoughts?

I still play SimCity 4, so very keen on this, with a big "HOWEVER".... They released a title called SimCity Society (or societies?) a while back, and it was the worst game you could possibly imagine. It was like being locked in a rape dungeon with a horny but well hung dungeon master... just painful.... so i might wait until it is released before buying....

I've seen heaps of complaints about the always-online DRM, stupid things like waiting in a queue for 20 mins to be able to play single player.

I personally lost interest after simcity 3000 so I don't think I'll be buying.

Hmmm, I think I will wait too now that you mention it - the preorder bonuses aren't even that good anyway.

Just wish I had seen them handing out Beta keys on Twitter before the Beta ended (it only went for the weekend) :/

a 2 day beta? wow, they'll surely find all the bugs!

I didn't mind SimCity 4, but it wasn't as good as 2000 or the sequel 3000. Hopefully SimCity 5 wont be packed full of The Sims shit.

Haha yeah. There was a lot of unavaiable stuff in the beta. I too loved SC 3000 but i had to uninstall it becase it kept crashing my computer. :(

From what I can see, Simcity 5 has no 'Make your own Sim' crap like Simcity 4 had. A cool thing is that residents give you feedback on how your doing... I find that much more helpful when managing a city. Also there is no more shenanigans with placing water pipes or messing around with damn power lines - everything travels along roads. A problem that I see is that if you create a rectangular space [with roads] and then zone it, if the space it too big the middle will be left completely empty. I guess its a little more realistic but its still a pain creating all these fiddly streets to utilize all the space.

+Free line road creater :D, and the city specializations feature looks interesting/

In SC4 it auto-created sub-roads in big areas of a zone, I imagine SC5 will do the same thing, and hopefully run the power and water with those auto-created roads.

Not from what ive seen in the beta, which is annoying. Then again its the beta and a whole lot of stuff was disabled.

Very keen for SimCity. Would have played SimCity 4 more, but it just crashed too often.

Is it worth buying?

DI region sounds good but as far as building great works its bugged as fuck, ive supplied enough resources to build arcology 10 times over but resources keep disappearing off the site. Its a good game but needs alot of bug fixes

Reluctant to get this game, It's been getting torched and exposed for the blatant lies about the absolute necessity for always on DRM (Check out the Kotaku articles tagged "Simcity 5 disaster watch".). Some coders basically found the one line of code causing the game to force disconnect after a period of time with no connection (Which ea claimed required serious reworking to fix...lol).

Also a number of videos on the rather weak in-game ai mechanics.

Looks like it has/had alot of potential but EA dun goofed and like mentioned in thread has bugs needs (alot of) fixes.

I'd give it a miss mate - not only because its a bad game but also because this guy was the lead designer

a great way to grief other players
If you do the all-residential city with no education, your buildings will start spawning about 100 criminals a day who can't actually commit crimes without commercial or industrial zones (so they just kind of creep around your otherwise trafficless city). When applied to a region, there is "literally a 3-day traffic jam of criminals trying to get into the [neighbor's] city.

If anyone else does have this and is interested in playing i have started a private DeathInc region today on Oceanic 1, add me on origin Eviscerator777 and ill send u an invite to the region. Connection seems to be a lot more stable now but still needs hell of a lot of work fixing in game.
