Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Chalice on 22/09/2012, 02:21 PM Who's car?
Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Number One on 22/09/2012, 03:27 PM you totally did the right thing budh... might be time to tell the 17yo to pull here head in..
Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: MrMagic on 22/09/2012, 03:39 PM I think you did the right thing, I wouldnt dare drive without someone with me while on my L's. I would lose my L's straight away if i got caught....
Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Budh on 22/09/2012, 04:15 PM Her car but thats besides the point she shouldn't have let him drive in the first place my thought was that if they have an accident then they both in the shit but she would be worse off for letting him drive and only on her L's

I completely agree! If it were me as my daughter will be getting her Learners soon... Personally i would have punched him in the head, told him to fuck off and then proceed to take the car from her. She is lucky it was you that did what you did. Also a good lesson for her to learn. Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: bageled on 22/09/2012, 06:29 PM HHmmm, I think sending the boy home is the top of iceberg. The real problem is the step daughter letting the friend drive at all. You coming down on them will stop them this time, but it won't stop them doing it again.
I think Sammy is right, take the car off her for a month. I imagine you could explain the dangers to her until you are blue in the face but you can make it real to her by stopping her using it. Ship her off to an advanced driving course and tell the friend of family parents what is going on. That boy is entering a particularly dangerous stage of life and they would probably appreciate the heads up that he has reached it. My mates and I got up to all kinds of shit when we first got out licenses, it wasn't until one wet day I completely lost control with 3 mates in the car, the car finally stopped about a foot short of a telegraph pole, scared the shit out of me, and some sense in, but we were all lucky. There is a news report every couple of months about a bunch of kids that aren't so lucky. Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Carples on 22/09/2012, 08:23 PM Is that like bringing my car home with 1 tire off the rim (you did not change it just drove it home) and saying you swerved to miss a cat?.
Course I remember pushing dads MR2 into a 4 wheel slide round a corner and ending up facing an old lady coming the other way. Take the car tell the other kids parents could always line it up with the tree and jump out before it hits the tree as an example Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: mandatory05 on 23/09/2012, 12:24 PM I agree budh, while the two kids are probably sitting in their rooms right now hating you as it was all "just a bit of fun", its the right thing to do. I think they need to be explained to that a lesson from you is much better than a lesson from the tree at 90kph.
Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Chalice on 23/09/2012, 12:40 PM Well Budh...I'm glad you asked!
Here's what to do...simulate a car crash! Tie the teenagers to a chair each, then using your belt crack em both REALLY hard across the chest, then using a cushion smack both REALLY hard across the face with it...these steps simulate whiplash, seatbelt burn and an airbag going off in their faces. Next hit him in the head with a fucking frying pan and her across the legs with a shovel, think outside the box but this step is to simulate injuries, so feel free to go to town depending on how severe you think you need to take it in order to get your point across...usually by punctured lung stage they get it, but everyone differs so you'll just have to wing it i'm afraid :( Hell, why not simulate a common accident? You can repeatedly ram them in the head with a model train for hours to simulate a crossing accident..go outside, lop down a tree, set up some pulley's and ram them with half a fukin tree......or better yet, go out, shoot a dear and then while their still taped to the chair throw the fucking carcass at them to simulate "deer through windscreen"! The choices are endless and each as exciting as the last, so be sure to be stern..but have fun with it at the same time as you know you are imprinting valuable life lessons on these youngins Hope that helps, Chalice Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Number One on 23/09/2012, 12:50 PM it's either that, or i have to pay a visit as the repo guy, who comes round to reposes her shit because of the legal fees and medical bill she has incurred due to causing a near fatal accident...
Title: Re: Your thought's Post by: Lentz on 23/09/2012, 06:59 PM why does she have keys anyways, if she only has L's then she needs a licenced driver to be with her, take the keys off her and only let her have them if you or a fully licenced "responsible" adult is with her. Remember that if anything goes wrong no one will hear your side of the story, just that your an untrustworthy parnent who couldn't control you kids and etc. etc. Hard line approach, because it's better that her killing herself or someone else.
