So apparently im banned from BF3 now. There was a "fraudulent" use of a premium key on my account, which has since removed my premium status, but not only that, I can no longer purchase premium for my account as im banned from it permanantly. I can still play regular stuff, but no DLC. They wont even let me buy another copy of premium :( If anyone knows where I can get a cheap copy of BF3 let me know. I need it xD

I'll give them a little bit of credit though, I complained about them doing something silly (double billed me for something I think, IIRC) and they gave me a free copy of Dragon age ORigins when it was still $79.99, so they arent always awful. Just mostly awful.

Did a little bit of reading. It looks like EA are looking to see what country the original game cd key came from, and what country the premium key was purchased from. If the two don't match up they are stripping premium from the account. This is to punish people for using VPN's/Happy CDKey Incopolated to get premium cheaper (which i still a stupid thing to punish people for), but it works the other way as well. Your BF3 key would likely be Russian or something similar, whilst your premium was bought off the Australian origin store. They don't match up so /commissar

But in all seriousness that sucks dude I think u may have to get an aus copy of bf3 and then probably have to rebuy premium :(

The whole reason there doing this is because they want more people to buy it. EA are prolly like this years cash projections are shit, what can we do to make more money? i know fuck the consumer in the arse. Ban russian cd keys matched with american uk cdkeys and make them buy it again mwuahahaha.

Really Cordless? EA made over 4 billion dollars last financial year, 84% of which comes from console games and only 10% comes from pc games. You can't seriously believe that they come up with such convoluted schemes to get a few more sales. These guys are the biggest game in town, they aim for millions of sales, not a couple of hundred. Just look at the whole premium thing, they punch out 20 more maps, no extra developing, and make millions of sales that they don't even have to physically package.

Seems more likely the original cd was produced by an opportunist with a keygen. Eject should take it up with the place that sold him the first key.

I was going to say that's more due to the fact that EA makes bad games which contards fork out their cash for, while PC gamers are more discerning and don't play bad games; but the reality is: that 80% of revenue from consoles is split between Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS and mobile phone games. So the 10% isn't so insignificant (it's actually pretty even with Xbox revenues if you look at their financial reports).

In any case there's no reason to charge up to a 50% premium for a digital product that costs nothing more to sell in Australia than it does in US/UK. Apart from corporate greed of course.

Lately I've been buying all my games from greenmangaming or game.co.uk because fuck paying the australia tax; recent example was Dark Souls, $70USD on Steam but $45USD from greenmangaming. Exact same game. Literally no possible way they can justify their price gouging.


If they want to stop people buying games from other regions, they should address the problem and get rid of the price disparity; then there will be no reason for people to do it.

I dont think it has anything to do where premium was purchased as it was through ea and people can move so I dunno lol. But yeah, it sucks that I cant even just buy premium again or something :( Looks like ill have to preorder that BF3 Premium Edition. The original was a cheapskate but I got premium legit and got premium banned lol. But ah well. If anyone sees BF3 for say under $20 then let me know haha. I know the PE is going to be $70 so thats not so bad I guess. But means I spent more :( God damn russians lol
