I am sorry, but diving is not a sport. Its just gravity.
Worse is the bs from the media hyping it up. Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Alucard on 31/07/2012, 05:51 AM maybe if it featured more esports then i would be watching some of it
Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: DonutKing on 31/07/2012, 06:22 AM does anyone else enjoy the irony of maccas being the official restaurant of the Olympics? I'm sure all the athletes have a strict training regimen of a double quarter pounder and milkshake every day
Qld is hosting commonwealth games in 2018 I think.... They're supposedly bankrupt yet can afford to build a stadium and athletes accommodation for an even less relevant overhyped sporting event. Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Z00111111 on 31/07/2012, 07:58 AM The best thing about the Olympics this year is Gruen Sweat. Can't say I realised just how commercial the Olympics is...
Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Carples on 31/07/2012, 01:00 PM The Olympics generate heaps of money for the local economy, with all the mums, dads and trainers tagging along to proudly watch their kids compete on the world stage.
And the event leaves world class sporting arenas for the cities future use like Homebush that is the hub of Sydney, or London that will tear them all down later. You guys should be ashamed not being glued to the TV supporting people you don't know or care about just because they are from Aust and you paid for their professional sporting career, training, drugs and probably transport and housing for the big event! You should also be pleased to pay extra for those swanky runners because some anal retentive poser wears them on a poster in the shop that prompted you to buy that particular model. Just be thankful that it only comes around every 2 years with the Commonwealth games, and that they don’t hype the Asian Games, or that there could be weekly broad casts of swimming meets or some such instead of the football! But more of a 5 circle Jerk Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: DirtyHarry on 31/07/2012, 01:19 PM Womens beach volleyball! ;D
Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: bageled on 31/07/2012, 03:52 PM Women beach volley ball is a good idea in concept, but the whole team selection makes no sense. Why these women are chosen based on their abilities is beyond me. All you would need to do is add a single word to the event and it would be perfect.
Reef Womens Volleyball....huh....am I right? Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: junkers on 31/07/2012, 04:23 PM I think there's some pretty good sports being displayed at the Olympics. The fact that these people dedicate their lives to being pretty freaking amazing just serves as inspiration for many people out there.
There is some pretty silly sports in there, which I find odd. But stuff like Cycling (road and track), Swimming, Running, Rowing show's pretty good athletic ability and determination by all involved. Even the teams coming last in these events have worked super hard to get there and the bar is set to an extremely high level. If you don't like track cycling, google "Victoria Pendleton" and I'm sure you'll soon have a pretty keen interest in it. :) Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: jazzycat on 01/08/2012, 09:38 PM I just sit there and imagine a zombie plague outbreak taking place at the Games when I'm not perving the men's swimming/diving/gymnastics/etc. But yeah, sick to death of the Olympics as the family TV is tuned into it constantly.... :o
Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: abbadonz on 01/08/2012, 10:06 PM i love the concept of the Olympics but hate what it is now
anyone else think of better ways to spend the millions from the opening ceremony? Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Carples on 02/08/2012, 06:39 AM This is the best footage of the volleyball I have seen so far

I think the photographers are pre occupied Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: abbadonz on 02/08/2012, 11:22 AM that

http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/draconian-wifi-police-stalk-olympic-games-20120803-23jdc.html It's not about personal excellence any more Quote Fish and chip stalls have been advised they are not allowed to serve chips on their own without fish as McDonald's is the official chip maker of the Games. The Independent reported that the ban on chips extended to 800 retailers at the 40 Olympic venues. Words such as "Olympic", "gold", "silver", "bronze", "sponsors", "summer" and "London" have been banned from business advertisements so as not to give the impression they are connected to the Olympics. Even pubs can't have signs displaying brands of beer that are not official sponsors. Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: bageled on 06/08/2012, 08:53 PM attempting to give a fuck.............
http://www.smh.com.au/olympics/off-the-field/government-blamed-for-australias-medal-drought-20120806-23pm3.html I saw this doco about 12 months ago about some cyclist who competes in some event I had never heard of, apparently it costs about a million dollars a week to train him to compete in the olympics. Why he can walk away scott free after spending so much public money, but someone going to university for a fraction of the cost has to pay it back. Baffles me. An olympic level cyclist, thats renewable energy right there, the least we could do is hook him into the power grid. Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: DonutKing on 07/08/2012, 07:45 AM This dude is pretty cool

I picked one up, the chicks love it. The weird thing I noticed in the t-shirt range was amongst the massive amount of UFC clothing, was Nirvana shirts....Kurt Kobain would probably kill himself again.

haha I saw those nirvana t-shirts for toddlers on sale at big w also, it was the one with stoned smiley face, that originally said on the back Quote Fudge-packing, crack-smoking satan-worshipping motherfucker Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: bageled on 07/08/2012, 12:52 PM The journalist is a little hard to take seriously, but the story is funny. 8 badminton players were expelled from the olympics for throwing matches so they could avoid playing better teams in the next round.

Wow Sammy, metro much?. lol Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: bageled on 11/08/2012, 02:07 PM Last night I learned that BMX racing is an olympic sport. I don;'t know who was representing us, but it wasn't Goose or PJ, clearly a problem with out selection committe. BMX racing, really, come on, surely there are more worthy sports.
Anyway, last night I also realised why I have decided I now love the olympics and never want them to leave. They keep the god damn footy off my TV. I switched on the TV and instead of the olympics I was presented with Friday night football...urrgh.....oh look, muttonhead has passed the ball to meathead and has been tackled by dickhead. I miss the olympics already. Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Chalice on 11/08/2012, 03:30 PM ...seen the BMX thing and TBH went ..WTF! Has the definition of Sport and Hobby become this fukin blurred?

Title: Re: The Olympics Post by: Chalice on 11/08/2012, 07:19 PM If they run, its a sport. If they stand still and I shoot em....hobby.
