Having some wireless connectivity issues around the house with my phone. The little bar at the top will say I have full wireless reception but my browser will often timeout when I am surfing the web.
Is this likely to be my phone, my browser, or the router?

My phone is a Galaxy S2 and my router is telstra branded netgear.

Probably the first thing i would check is if any other phones or wireless devices have the same issue with this wireless modem router?
Second thing i would be checking is if the Galaxy S2 has the same issue on any other network at all?
i would also double check the setting on the phone as sometimes i have seen android to be a bit picky about how it gets it data but then again it could be the family member using it in my case

is your router running 802.11 N?   some older devices don't support N even tho they connect

look at getting a Linksys by Cisco maybe :P (d-link / Billion etc)

Sorry man,  there are 3 types of wireless standards
802.11.. b/g/n
B speeds of up to 11mbbs / 2.4Ghz freq
G up to 54mbps /2.4Ghz Freq
N up to 100mbps / 5Ghz Feq

N is the highest speed but also the shortest range and strength (struggles to go through walls)

the older devies cant handle N / Iphone 3gs couldnt connect, the 4 would connect but not browse.

this COULD be a factor if you have changed your settings recently, otherwise i would say its the net gear router,  ive owned 2 (both died horrible young deaths) and my flatmates one kept dropping our connection too)

I'd blame the phone in the first instance, next time it happens restart your phone without moving from where you are and try again. If that doesn't work, leave your phone where it is and go restart the router then try your phone again...

I think it is probably the router. our wireless was ok, then I swapped to cable and a new router and now it is crap. But having said that, both wife and I have the same phone.

that is a good step but before going and blaming the router fully i would be checking with another wireless network as well

but if only happening on your router i would suggest looking at changing wireless channels. i would explain why but i cannot be bothered typing it and i could tell you over TS faster

I dunno, DLink is probably worse. I've had 3 different friends each with a telstra supplied DLink router and each one had a different, weird issue.

Strange coz myself and 2 others in the office named Linksys / Dlink and Billion as 3 brands we've never had issues with
the common factor in this equation is Telstra....Cough*

any provided modem/router should immediately reflashed or replaced.  They get thier grubby Firmware on there and wreck it!
