So I've thought this before and not really told anyone other than a mate of mine, but I think it'd be really awesome if there was an FPS based around Starcraft II. I'd play the shit out of that

So like it'd be an MMOFPS I guess and 2 players would have a commanding role which would basically be like Starcraft now in it's RTS format, and the other players would be units in one of the two (or maybe even 4, potential is endless) teams in an FPS view alongside other AI (depending on the amount of players and units the commander can make) and each time you spawned as specific class/unit you'd cost minerals+gas to the team and you could get in and out of vehicles like the Thor, Viking, medievac, Void Rays etc. and ships like the battlecruiser and carrier could use extra people for teamwork like a chopper in BF3.

Also the AI would follow specific instructions from the commander like they do now and players can do what they want but be limited to a certain area so they dont just fly around wherever. Also an issue you could be thinking of is "but vikings can only attack air units, what's to stop them from attacking ground?" easy, just make it that rounds fired on ground units dont do any damage and when on ground, no damage to air.

stuff like this that has some real mind-blowing potential is what devs should be looking into. Although I wouldn't trust Blizzard making this, they don't do FPS, it'd be better if they joined with some other company so Blizzard can work on the RTS side and company X can work on the FPS side.

Sounds interesting. Natural Selection, which was a multiplayer mod for half life, is a bit similar to what you're describing here.

Another example to check out might be Battlezone 1 and 2 although its not as strong on the multiplayer side.

Natural Selection 2 is coming out shortly I believe, and it looks completely badass.
