Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: Z00111111 on 22/06/2012, 01:45 PM Obviously it will grow to face westward. It's a little know fact that plants actually follow a form of crazy Arab religion (minus racism).
Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: jazzycat on 22/06/2012, 02:45 PM Depending on the latitude you could technically plant it "upside down" and it would grow downwards-ish. But since it's too fucking cold at North/South that's probably a sign we're not supposed to be growing shit up/down, but sideways only.
Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: Carples on 25/06/2012, 03:57 PM you can get tomato growing things that hang the plant upside down

Post by: Ice on 25/06/2012, 04:23 PM you can get tomato growing things that hang the plant upside down http://www.topsygardening.com/ (http://www.topsygardening.com/) They don't work, as Bageled said the plant grows towards the light. It will grow towards the light. Somehow I doubt you don't have some hydroponic experience Hahah! Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: Carples on 26/06/2012, 08:52 AM so how come people have to use stakes to make their tomato's stand up. and how come a vine can grow up one side of a fence and down the other.
I would contend that the leaves will point towards the light, and the stalks will try but may be defeated by gravity. Plants also respond to gravity they will want to go up and towards the light. some one should do an experiment The tomato thing does work I have seen them in Real Life not just on tv Plus how awesome would an upside down hydro set up be no more banging your head on the light in confined roof space, and no problems with "Tomato's" drooping to the floor Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: Ice on 26/06/2012, 05:13 PM The vine thing has me stumped but the Tomato thing would be the strength of the stem.
My dads tomato thing didn't work :( Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: DirtyHarry on 27/06/2012, 03:47 PM It'll just fall out of the pot silly!
Title: Re: Plant - Which way will it grow? Post by: Chalice on 30/06/2012, 02:55 PM Well Cordlez...I'm glad you asked!
Sorry for taking so long to reply but I needed to conduct certain top secret experiments invloving Gold fish, TNT and an umbrella in order to get my mind right for this one. The simple truth of the matter is that it will grow sideways! Why you may ask? Because it will be completely confused, it will know instincively that it should be growing one way, but its being forced to grow another...as such these two urges will result in it going one way, then the other until in a fit of hysteria it goes "fuck it, i'll grow wider instead of taller!" Be warned, it may explode in a hail of bark as it gets totally mind fucked and terminates its own existence. Hope that helps, Chalice p.s. thats also what happened to Damits mother who is as wide as a bus lane, i'd still do her though just quietly ;) (http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachments/1098-1198/20507d1255049246-front-end-feels-too-light-over-180-fat-chick.jpg) |
