Hya,

Gonna organize weekly pub bashes for 2 games.  The idea is 2 days a week at a specific time we have our game nights...will run for 3 months then repost poll.

MP online games will be awesome, picture Mount & Blade...an army of DI :)   I'll hate myself for saying it but MMORPG could be a go if we have 30 people doing it, as long as I dont get banned again....   ::)


These game nights will be on a Sunday night and we'll vote on the second night....It'll be good to get everyone playing as a group and for fun!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Well, my opinion here is by necessity ridiculously biased, as of that list WoW and ToR are the only games I can play through a proxy..

my personal pref is for PR and M&B..... But, seing as TF2 is now a F2P game.... we should all be able to jump on that as a true caln stomping pub bashing fest.

I've also got a massive bias towards those two games, but went with my secondary choices as was thinking in terms of what the majority have, and ease for those who don't have to pick up/start out (eg. TF2 being F2P);

MMO's by nature are harder to 'enjoy' at low level with a lot of outlay in terms of purchase/download-to-install, and even if a lot of ppl have a max-level toon they'll be allover the servers (WoW) or not around until transfers go thru (SWTOR).

Maybe add Diablo 3 to that list?

Will Diablo 3 have a decent MP?

diablo 3 will be awesome for multiplayer. However I dont think it will be that great for having 10-20 people on at once.

Having played diablo 2, having around 5 people at most is already pushing it, as XP is diluted and loot is stolen by everyone. Personally, I will only be playing D3 with a select group of people that wont run off, kill everything and steal my loot.

In D2 the experience and monster difficulty scaled up the more people you have.

I'd always play on "players set to 8" even when there was only one of me. So the more players in the game, the less XP I got...

good to bc2 getting some votes. I've been playing it in preference to BF3. The only thing I miss is cannister round.

I have been playing WoT a lot as I find its easy to start up - grab a tank and pew pew for ten or so mins before the kids tackle me.

I was thinking of D3 but the time that goes into it is longer than an instanced session like Wot or BC2 so thats a killer for me sorry :( (Unless I find cat tranquilizers forthe kids and a horse one for the missus) :P

I've been playing a bit also, sadly never when you are, I like the bullets going where I point the gun... and the m24 no scoping..

In BC2 I like how inf has a chance against the choppers. On every map where there is an assault chopper there is an AA gun, then there are the tracer darts, and failing that the wire guided missles, and choppers that actually crash when you hit them with rockets.
BF3 seemed more like a step sideways than a step forward.

to be honest, anything that wasn't BF2 with prettier graphics was going to fail...   i rekon EA would of been ripped apart by the "critics" and Adored by the fans for reskinning bf2

We have 2 bf3 related games followed by a 3 way split, don't think having 2 bf games is a good way to go (agree/disagree?) so let's break the 3 way split lads and well get it happening :)

how about we have a talk about what games should be eligible. what conditions would be required for it to qualify...ie: F2P or cheap <$10 ect, multiplayer...or RTS or FPS..

I think that we need to just pick one thats relatively popular and easy to organise so we can just get people playing and having fun. It doesnt need to be "the perfect game", I think the fun bit is just playing whatever with DI.

you might want to consider narrowing the poll down to the most popular 2 games for each genre we have so far, and eltting people decide between that. There are way too many options atm to get a consensus on what the majority want to play.

If we just wanted to make things simple, why not just play TF2? I didnt vote for it personally but its free and I'm pretty sure no-one can argue that its a good game.

If we got our own private server (eg just booked a GA server), or organised a friendly like we had with FMJ back in the day, I might jump in for some TF2 game nights.

TF2 is terrible in pub now, people are more worried about their hats than playing the game

TF2 stopped being my game after my server browser decided it would be a good time to not work.... ever. I think the last time i played it was with biggie when they released the headless horsemen stuff for halloween

With most of us playing BF3 already (or over it).. based off the result I propose that Thursday night 8.30 be BF3 night and Sunday night 8pm be TF2 night...TF2 is free to play so everyone can join in the fun! (hold back comments of farming, item whoring etc..we know ;) )

we'll jump on pubs (or for TF2 hire a server on the night for free..to start with, friendlies down the track if we get numbers)

I'd be up for TF2 but I have commitments sunday evenings (just to be difficult)

To be honest we could just have a weekly pub bash for each of the games that have majority of the interest and then just take note on how many people actually show for each and then figure out which is more popular. Rather than just picking one outright

Pick a day/time you're likely to get a majority of people. Look at the games available as choices. Assign each game to a side of a d6 (dice).

Eg.
1. BF of some sort
2. Project Reality
3. Mount & Blade
4. Team Fortress 2
5. Tribes Ascend
6. Moonbreakers

Roll. Play the game that corresponds to the number that turns up.

That game then goes to the 'bottom' of the game rotation (kinda like suicide kings, if anyone knows what that's referencing). Or to keep things random, just play whatever gets rolled. You just run the risk of playing the same thing twice in a row maybe (but if everyone has FUN which is the whole point, then what's the issue?).

The six or whatever games involved will be listed beforehand, so people who want to participate can get them downloaded/up-to-date/L2P/etc. The list-example above also has a good mix of F2P in there, and isn't restricted to groups of 4 like some of the other options (eg. D3, Blitzkrieg). But yeah, if people are not ready to play the game that's picked, too bad!

I allowed enough time to get the votes in..left it a little longer to try and break the deadlock, that didn't happen so made the call..yesterday... and am now asking if there's any opposition to making that call, but have already thrown up the tf2 night for sun.
