Good afternoon All,

I am currently in the process of hiring an IT & Telecommunications Officer for my team at the Australian Agricultural College Corporation.  The role is a 3 month Fixed Term contract at Queensland Government AO3 Classification, with a salary equivilent of $50,299.60 to $56,261.40 pa depending on experience/qualifications.  The role is based at Gatton (Queensland) with travel all over the state when required.

The successful applicant would have a choice to work out the three month contract and then move on, or throw their hat into the ring for the AO5 ($70-76K pa) Information Technology & Telecommunications Operations Officer role starting in July.

Question B: No, 12 or 24 month Full Time Fixed Term

It is expected that following the Fixed Term AO5 role, a full time permenant role will be offered at the AO3 level for ongoing support requirements.

The AO5 role, while not titled as such, is more of a Project Officer role to handle project implementation/liasion responsibilities for a Multimillion dollar Citrix/Server Centralisation project, Document Management System implementation, Internet/Intranet Site Development and other associated projects occurring over that 12/24 month period.

Curious. Is there a tick box for asking if your an aboriginal or islander. Cause when I tick that for gov jobs I always seem to get a call back faster :p

What about the MOG? Isn't that going to be a problem as very thing is frozen.

You are not meant to be hiring any one who is not a public servant unless they a critical front line staff eg Doctors for Health dept.

The MOG Changes?  The only affect that they have had on us is:

- We are now under the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry instead of the former Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation

- We are unable to hire full time persons in contracts longer than 6 months (all classifications) until July

- We are unable to hire any senior staff at any level of AO5 or above until July (hence the AO5 role being recruited at that point).

Maybe it's a little different for us as a Government owned Corporation rather than core agency, but yeah... still able to fill this role at its length and grade.

Lucky bugger, we have do a merry dance just to back fill vital positions even at AO2 level.

You know I just had a quick read and am quite impressed the pre req is less vigorous than ours as you only have a criminal check in yours. We have Crim check, medical, drug n Alcohol and then you must have all your cards and quals up to speed. IE Blue / White card and your certs and tickets. Then after getting the job you need to have your inductions done just to get into your office. And for me it was a Bechtel Induction, I needed a water safety induction as I an using the boats and I swear they may change the rules where I need a 'piss break' induction to ensure I know how to undo the zipper on my pants.

I think Crypto would be well up on all this too. :P

I'd like to congratulate Damit, who was the successful candidate and will start his new role on the 14th of May... I had the unique honour of ordering his business cards today... first ever Queensland Government cards that say "Death Inc Damit, Goat Rape Master"...

I'd also like to offer my thanks to Chalice who went above and beyond as a recruitment agent... he searched high and low (mostly low, gutters and the like) and came up with one of his best mates for the job... nepotism at it's best!  :)

Just goes to show, Death Inc can take you places... other than the VD Clinic...

Nah, bit of a change around, I went from having the biggest private office in the place to having to share with Damit (when he starts) and another staff member due to space issues...  too much growth :(

But it has the added advantage that he doesn't have as far to limp back to his desk after being bent over... so there's certainly an advantage there :P
