Title: Politics. Post by: Syklone on 24/03/2012, 07:27 PM Well election seems done and dusted. Only thing I learnt was,
"what is the difference between the ALP and a torago van? Come Sunday a torago will still have 8 seats" Overall. That's a fucking bloodbath of a response from QLD people. Title: Re: Politics. Post by: KARNAGE on 24/03/2012, 09:24 PM i got a letter in the mail saying I was getting a gift that I would enjoy forever.
a sheet enrolling me to vote. thats what Ive always wanted for my birthday -_- i dont even care in the slightest anymore Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Dex on 25/03/2012, 12:33 AM Vote #1 - Katter!!
Vote Katter and get a free cowboy hat Title: Re: Politics. Post by: YosimeteSam on 25/03/2012, 07:22 AM What a fucken bloodbath! Now bring on the slaughter of Labour in the Federal election!
Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Virgil83 on 25/03/2012, 08:05 AM A quote from Kent Brockman: "And I, for one, welcome our new Insect Overlords..."
A powerful, almost unopposed, Liberal National Party government should be interesting... especially as a government employee... I wonder what this will mean for AACC, what department we'll end up under, as apparently one of the LNP's big plans is/was to dismantle the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation and the Department of Environment and Resource Management... *sighs* Title: Re: Politics. Post by: DonutKing on 25/03/2012, 08:35 AM You'll just end up as a deployee won't you, in the worst case scenario? Since they don't seem to ever fire anyone or make them redundant?
in which case just do what the deployees at QLD health did - just refuse any position offered to you, and while you show up to work with no position to fill do nothing but surf the web and read books, while still drawing full salary. Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Virgil83 on 25/03/2012, 10:31 AM Nah, the Liberals have indicated they will increase our funding, so there will be no sackings etc, just policy shifts depending upon our parent department...
But rather annoying, I have a presentation to our advisory board on Wednesday, asking them for $900k for a infrastructure refresh project, but thanks to the change of government that will likely fall on deaf ears now since the board members aren't likely to want to invest until the whole new government thing is cleared up... Title: Re: Politics. Post by: naf on 25/03/2012, 11:11 AM I highly doubt there will be a bloodbath in the federal election no one in their right mind really wants to vote for abbott to be Prime minister, If Turnbull was the liberal leader it might be different...

Anyone who votes for gillard, needs fucken shooting! Labour is fucked on every level! Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Carples on 25/03/2012, 02:50 PM Turnbull is a tardlet as well.
vote for the titanic party Title: Re: Politics. Post by: DonutKing on 25/03/2012, 03:33 PM Both parties are fucked. The QLD election wasn't about which party is best suited to run the country, its about the one that's slightly less worse than the other. (This is probably true of every election but its even moreso this time). I think overall most people are pretty jaded with both major parties. If you can look past Katter as the front man, his party actually seems a lot better than either of the two major ones, and is who I would have voted for first.
Just read that apparently an average of 10,000 people in each electorate didn't vote or submitted an informal vote. That's rather telling. Title: Re: Politics. Post by: cryptochild4 on 25/03/2012, 03:39 PM i did vote for him first, and he won in that seat....mt isa
Title: Re: Politics. Post by: DonutKing on 25/03/2012, 03:41 PM I know, I'm saying I would have voted for him (more accurately KAP) too :)
Title: Re: Politics. Post by: KARNAGE on 25/03/2012, 03:58 PM im gonna have to vote soon and I need to read up on this shit.

Post by: Sillen on 25/03/2012, 05:46 PM I've been umming and ahhing over getting citizenship over the last decase or so but with the kind of leadership it would give me the privilege of voting for, procrastination was and is the best choice for now - there is no lesser of two evils. :(

Do like the rest of us do, if you don't like either party, just vote for Fred Flinstone or Chalice :) Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Z00111111 on 26/03/2012, 09:27 AM Could be a good thing that QLD is Liberal now. Since the Libs got in in NSW it's been sounding good. It's pretty much like the two main parties have swapped stances, the Liberals down here seem to be investing money wisely in infrastructure, and trying to improve efficiency. It's what I'd always been told was what Labour is meant to do, while the Liberals just sell everything to make enough money for tax cuts to the rich.
In conclusion, it would appear that being in Opposition for so long has led the Liberal Party, in state politics at least, to actually look into what the people want, and then actually do what the people want. Title: Re: Politics. Post by: Carples on 26/03/2012, 04:23 PM I think Zoo you are assuming people are voting for the party they like not voting against the party they don't like.
Labor lost its roots when keating decided it need to be more business friendly. Labor spent the last 15 odd years not investing in infrastructure in NSW. Libs are talking the talk but have yet to really start walking. Decades of both parties pandering to anybody they think will buy them votes with no regard for other levels of government or interaction with existing legislation has resulted in a big Fucking mess that nobody can work with. Big infrastructure projects are good for big business and the rich, and for the poor guy pooring cement. When the gov crows about generating job via a short term project or oportunity you know we are in trouble. When the prime minister tells a press conference, "we need a skilled and educated work force, a flexible work force, the days of a job for life are gone, you might have to move interstate or change industries" you know we are really in trouble especially from a labor one. How can you be skilled at a job if you have to keep changing, how much time should be spent re-educating for a new industry who will fund it Why be dedicated to a short term job How much does it cost to move. How will the digital economy really pan out when you read the governments white paper and the 3 companies listed employ about 50 people and have the entire market cornered (google earth and some security company the banks use) no example shows how it will help the little concers it says it will help or gives an example of a resurant that made good of the internet. I do believe that if the Gov has its way cow will be replaced by the internet along with most salesmen (and good ridance to annoying mofos) Title: Re: Politics.
