Title: Video Card install problems Post by: mandatory05 on 20/12/2011, 02:43 PM Yo,
Parents bought me an MSI GTX580 for Chrissy, I installed the card, power cables are attached, but there is no picture on my monitor. I haven't reseated the card yet, as I am out and about, there may be dust in the connection, but I'm just asking for alternate opinions if a simple reseat doesnt fix it. I tried with both HDMI and DVI connections from the card to no avail. I did have to move the position of the hard drive during the installation aswell. I'm kinda pissed off that it's not working, spent 3 hours trying to work the thing... Cheers, Mandy Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: Psych0Kyller on 20/12/2011, 02:52 PM If your putting it in the slot that your previous card was in its not the slot unless you fucked it by yanking out the card. Also ive heard that there are some major overheating issues with the MSI's version of the 580 and 590 but maybe they have fixed them since ive heard this. Bohica would know better than me

Are you putting this card in as SLI ??? or physx, do you have a bridge attached. does the card fucntion on its own, as if you already have another graphics card then 350 watt is not goin to be enough. minimum is goin to be 600watts http://www.geforce.com/Hardware/GPUs/geforce-gtx-580/specifications Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: mandatory05 on 20/12/2011, 06:30 PM I got an 850 watt power supply, all the fans are spinning and no sounds were made. I'll reseat when I get home in the original pci slot.

Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: mandatory05 on 20/12/2011, 07:27 PM Should I delete all drivers?
Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: BoHiCa on 20/12/2011, 07:32 PM If you pc is not booting in to windows, then it wont be driver issue!
drivers will only be an issue once it gets into windows. were you running a nvidia before? Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: Psych0Kyller on 20/12/2011, 10:07 PM Psycho, it's not in the same slot, would that help? id try it in the same slot first, then if that fails use a different one.Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: Alucard on 20/12/2011, 10:08 PM he has fixed it i think something about not having the correct power connectors connected to the vid card
Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: mandatory05 on 20/12/2011, 10:33 PM Yep, MSI forgot to include the part where you need to use 2 8-pin power connectors. On the other hand, my computer has been real slow lately...

Make sure you use the same pci-e slot because wouldnt the second slot be slower? Generally has a 16x slot and an 8x used for sli. Just a side note...
Title: Re: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: Psych0Kyller on 23/12/2011, 01:46 PM not necessarily Dutch most new boards come with 2-3 16x slots and then an extra 8x slot
Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: YosimeteSam on 23/12/2011, 02:12 PM not necessarily Dutch most new boards come with 2-3 16x slots and then an extra 8x slot Yes, but the high end boards mainly..and the 16x or 8X 8X for sli is at best a funny argument Title: Re: Video Card install problems Post by: Dutch on 23/12/2011, 04:07 PM Yeah, the low end boards are generally 4x for second slot... hence why should put it in first slot regardless.
