Command & Conquer: Generals 2

Quote
In the near future, world leaders are mere seconds from signing a global treaty and bringing an end to war as we know it when a devastating terrorist attack rips through the peace conference, killing all in attendance. In a world left with no politicians, diplomats, or activists, only the Generals remain. It’s up to you to assume their roles, command their forces, and put an end to global terrorism once and for all.

Features:

• All-Out War — Take control of three unique factions, competing for resources, building up your base of operation, and leading massive batteries of tanks, soldiers, and aircraft into battle.

• Uncanny Sense of Realism — Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.

• New Ways to Dominate or Ally with Your Friends — Go beyond classic deathmatch with a selection of new multiplayer game modes, designed with both cooperative and competitive play in mind.

• Thrilling Campaign — Command the war on terror in an electrifying single-player campaign. Experience the dramatic story from multiple perspectives — from heroic General to crazed terrorist — while engaging the enemy in pulse-pounding tactical combat.

• Ever-Evolving Experience — Enhance your game with an expanding array of downloadable content. From maps and units to factions, campaigns, and more, the fight against terrorism is deeper than ever.

2 things which are very good.
It is listed as PC exclusive, using all the DX11 features of Frostbite 2.

It is being made by Victory Games, which is made up of just about everyone who made the original.

In short - a pretty way to build a base, pump out troops and metal machines and rush / kill the other guy or girl. 'yawn'

Sorry I use to be into RTS but after Starcraft and Dune2 and TA I kinda lost interest as they all felt the same.

Frostbite 2 + Generals + Bioware?
This is going to get ridiculously pretty.
And hopefully it won't become another that-which-we-must-not-speak-of that followed C&C3. I hope they de-canonise that piece of trash.

I think I get what you're saying, but maybe this will explain it better......

Sad thing is they would probably do that.

well dragon age 2 was terrible, mass effect 3 looks like its going to be terrible, and I haven't played a C&C game since the first Red Alert so this doesn't really twirl my tassels

Yeah but you hate every new game Donut.

OHFFSMAX dont start that by poking the troll :P

But I do agree with Donut likewise, I havent played games like that since they first came out, everything else felt vanilla and a copy of the previous. So what if I can zoom in to see some one getting skull fucked with a bullet, I would still play the game zoomed out, create a giant army, arrange them in the formation of a penis and charge it headfirst into the enemies bunkered fort or backdoor.

So I think  I will pass this one unless something is very unique to the others.

Yeah but you hate every new game Donut.

Just the bad ones, which unfortunately seems to be the vast majority these days.

You had me thinking DK of the ole days, when games were hard. I remember I once spent WEEKS on a Space Quest game trying to think of the answer. Now days you can just seem to spam of a shit load of bullets or click everywhere till you hit the solution by fluke :(

What happened to those good days of ye ole games of adventure ?

well to be fair nowadays its just so easy to get on the internet and look up the solution, that's sort of killed adventure games a bit.
I played through all 3 seasons of the new Sam and Max without looking up solutions although it did take a lot of restraint... I'm glad I didn't though :)

I remember getting stuck on Return to Zork at a particular point and never figuring out how to progress past it... until I bought the hint book about 6 months later. (had no internet back in those days)

but yes the old adventure games owned. I recently played through Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, that was really cool :)
The Sierra adventure games were a shitload harder/less forgiving than the Lucusarts ones...

Sam and Max owns. I bought the original game back in the 90's (took me ages to save up for it) AND I have the 'surfin the highway' collection of comics AND the animated series :)

I will play. Still LAN generals zero hour, RA2 yuris revenge and AOE2 on a regular basis with a few mates. It twirls my tassels, it rocks my socks and most of all it floats my boat

agree with ICe, (particularly RA2 Yuris revenge... awesome game...)...

Granted that a lot of new games are utter crap, and that most old games are simply amazing - that doesn't mean every new game will be bad.

I didn't really like the first generals that much, and quality had been dropping since the EA takeover, so I was dubious as to how good C&C3 was going to be - it turned out to be bloody damn good.

And Donut? If you don't already do so, you should probably play more indie games - they're currently the best on the market, overall.

Anyway, the 3 seconds of footage looks epic.

I miss the days of bringing home boxed software!

I remember dad and i would goto cdrom supermarket every two weeks and i was allowed to pick one game.

yeah dude boxes + thick printed manual was the shit.

A time when publishers were proud of their product.
Now they just shit out the latest iteration of call of battlefield 2012 black ops edition and rake in the cash.

I miss the days when you could go to the shops with $20 and come back with 4 floppies of different shareware games and that would keep you occupied for weeks

My original copies? Day Of The Tentacle, Indiana Jones: Fate Of Atlantis, Twinsen's Odyssey, Secret Of Monkey Island (floppy), Theme Park, Loom, Sam & Max Hit The Road, Diablo, C&C Red Alert...

Considering most of these games are as old as I am, I feel moderately proud of my collection, but I wish I had original copies of Master Of Magic and Transport Tycoon and such...
