Title: Jamie Lynn Snowboarding Post by: bageled on 18/03/2011, 03:40 PM Been watching some of the old snowboard vids on youtube.
You know, Shaun White is incredible and all that, but this dude, Jamie Lynn, just makes it look so damn good. He never entered many competitions, but Jamie did a lot of videos, and is one the most influeltial freestyle snowboarders ever. He basically invented the kung fu stance. In this era snowboarding was just coming out of hard boots and narrow racing stances. They still did moguls events on snowboards(aaarrrggghhh) and half pipes were about 5 feet deep and more a sting of rutted quarter pipes than a half pipe. I know it's nowhere near the amplitude or rotations they get these days, but this is pure style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSYFZkSRK7g I had the opportunity to bump into this guy completely out of the blue in a snowboard shop in the states back in the 90's. Awesome. Title: Re: Jamie Lynn Snowboarding Post by: bageled on 18/03/2011, 04:37 PM Another one, a compilation of a bunch of old movies. Some epic road gaps around the 5.00 and a famous 540 jump a 5.17. That 540 was the first time someone had done a freestyle rotation off a cliff like that.
At 7.16 he does a 900 that is a thing of beauty, so smooth and the landing is so solid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_pgFddkI_8 Title: Re: Jamie Lynn Snowboarding Post by: cryptochild4 on 18/03/2011, 05:14 PM i like that it had monster magnet playing, i saw them at soundwave, they rock
