Title: Cheap Steam Games
Post by: Damit on 15/03/2011, 10:57 PM
ok this is how to purchase Games from the US Steam Store for a cheaper price like black ops was $59.99 instead of $89.99

here is the site to compare prices to see if its worth doing - http://www.steamprices.com/au

this can be done for any game

Steps to Buy
First quit Steam

then you need to use a VPN
if you dont have one that goes via US - this one gives you a 3 hour free trial - http://anonymitynetwork.com/
so sign up to it and install the AN VPN TOOL and connect to a US server - i used NY

once connected via VPN open steam and purchase game
to purchase you will need to enter a US address - well only a post code is needed - I used 10138 - New York city
once thats done, you have now purchased it for Cheaper

Note
i have not tested but those who tried with paypal say it didn't work so a credit card is a must

i small warning to anyone who trys this it IS credit card fraud and if u are found out you could face a $10,000 fine and get a record of commiting fraud. 2 of my workmates are unable to leave the country purely because of this so do it at your own risk.

what? sounds pretty far fetched to me, are you sure they weren't doing anything else dodgy... like maybe using a card that isn't theirs?

I'll ask the cards & credit manager about it at work

That's a little too serious for just a little smudging of funds on steam.. surely?

dont work any more.
There is a tickbox in the steam interface that asks: I am in the country of this address (or similar).
The CC country needs to match the country of the address that also matches the first 4 digits on the CC.

I tried all combos.

Cheapest solution:
www.greenmangaming.com

Buy at US rates using AU credit card and downloads via Steam.

no its not. How could it be.. it is your credit card.. you havent defrauded anyone. The only issue you will face is that when they do the check on the card, the address wont match up to your card's. In particular, your postcode wont work. One trick to get around this is to add a 0 to the end of your exisitng postcode.
Unless the people you mentioend didnt use their own card... then it would be fraud....

Or you could just wait for a steam sale, but games like Black Ops take ages to go down in price. Personally I prefer to have a game on disk, easier to re-install, thanks for info though.
