Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: DonutKing on 11/02/2011, 07:39 AM welp apparently its on its way because its just past the classification board here in Australia.
It will be released uncut and uncensored http://www.gamepron.com/news/2011/02/09/duke-nukem-forever-escapes-australian-censors/ This is brilliant news for what is objectively the best video game series of all time. Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: DonutKing on 11/02/2011, 12:58 PM This was posted on a French game developer's facebook:
(http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1443/18220918224088181347411.jpg) I fucking hope this is true I am literally going to purchase that if it comes out here Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: Syklone on 11/02/2011, 01:29 PM Not to be a kill joy but that makes no sense. I am visually seeing an 18 rating on the image above and wonder how the fuck the game made it rhough. When if we look at other titles such as Fallout which had to be resubmitted due to drug references, how does the duke get past our fucked up classification system ?
I am not disputing the duke, I think he is awesome and I love the guy (In a non homo chalice phobic kind of way) but I honestly thought it would hit the no go for boobs, drugs and language and violence and not having barbies fun house in it. Oh well Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: Ice on 11/02/2011, 01:51 PM Not to be a kill joy but that makes no sense. Oh well i had that exact thought! Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: DonutKing on 11/02/2011, 02:10 PM Not to be a kill joy but that makes no sense. I am visually seeing an 18 rating on the image above and wonder how the fuck the game made it rhough. Same way other games that would be better suited for an R18+ rating made it through as MA15+ I'd imagine. Quote When if we look at other titles such as Fallout which had to be resubmitted due to drug references, how does the duke get past our fucked up classification system ? From memory the main issue with Fallout was their reference to a real life drug, Morphine, which they shanged to med-X. So maybe Duke just uses fictional drugs? The only drugs in DN3D were steroids IIRC so they might have just called it something else. Maybe the tongue-in-cheek nature of the game helped diminsh its impact somewhat... plus perhaps the relatively recent publicity towards games censorship has influenced the OFLC to show some lenience. DN3D only had very minimal nudity and I can't remember if boobs were ever a big issue for the OFLC? I know Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude got banned but that was pretty heavy on the boobage and the entire subject matter was basically just meaningless sex so... I can't access the OFLC site as it seems to be getting hammered but normally if it had been submitted and knocked back requiring changes, there'd be a report for the failed classification attempt as well. Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: Syklone on 11/02/2011, 02:16 PM DK - as always thoughtful answers. But overall - will wait n see - when it hits the shelves I will be happy. Till then anythign is possible. Next Conroy may admit an IE filter is a bad idea and we should just have a R rating for games.... Who knows :)
also, wh the fuck when I use IE9 when I sometimes type I end back at my homepage (So fucking odd) Title: Re: Duke Nukem Forever (again) Post by: DonutKing on 11/02/2011, 02:26 PM don't mind me I'm just a duke fanboy and I feel the rapture is at hand
